This isn’t just the occasional paparazzi snapping pictures of drunken wild celebrities, this is Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge! This past weekend the Duchess was photographed sunbathing topless while on vacation at her secluded villa in France with husband Prince William.
The magazine that got their hands on these racy photos then published them was Chi, and Italian glossy gossip magazine. The magazine is owned by former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Mr. Berlusconi also owns the French magazine, Closer which incidentally also published these photos of the duchess.
The royal family is righteously so pursuing legal action and suing the magazines while demanding the photos be taken off and that issue of the magazine not be distributed anymore. It was a complete invasion of their privacy considering they were at their secluded vacation villa, not even in public. The Duke and Duchess’ office said Friday, “their royal highnesses have been hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and unjustifiable manner.”
Not only does the Royal family have to worry about Chi and Closer publishing these photos, CNN has stated that a Danish magazine has plans to print and distribute the photos as well. The Duke and Duchess now have attorneys and lawsuits set for these magazines and for every day that the photos aren’t taken down the magazine must pay 10,000 euros.
The family doesn’t have enough to worry about, now they have to be burdened with such inappropriate pictures being taken then published and violating their private space. I understand it’s a business and you have to give readers what they want to try and make money, but maybe make it a little more tasteful.
